Guggenheim museum is one of Gehry's famous design. It's a museum of contemporary art, located in Bilbao Spain, on the Nervion River. The architecture completed in 1997, total area 265000 square feet, 150 feet above the river. Public facilities are including a three hundred-seat auditorium, a restaurant and retail spaces.
The Guggenheim Museum is like a ship especially it is located on the riverside, and the main building is looks like a steel flower. The architecture is very well designed in combination with the surrounding environment. The shape of the building is extremely irregular, architectural drawings are almost done by the computing program as it is too complicated to be completed manually. The site selection and the rich styling roof are very similar as the Sydney Opera House, but the spaces have been used more efficiently than Sydney Opera House. The building constructed by steel frame and coated with titanium plates. Because of the backlighting, the main façade of the building will be in the shade all day long. As the surface of the building is curved and in different directions, the building will have the changing light effects while the changing of solar incident angle in different time of day.
The Guggenheim Museum is as a symbol of Bilbao city, it attracts uncountable number of people to visit this city.
